The Brighouse and Rastrick band would like to send their condolences to the family of Neil Jowett who passed away on the 26th January at 70 years of age.
Neil was a well-liked and respected person, musician and businessman who played with B&R for only a short while 1988/89 but at a critical period for the band.
He started playing for Slaithwaite band in the 1960’s before moving to principal cornet at Linthwaite band. He also played principal cornet at Lindley band before playing at Black Dyke during their successful period in the 1970’s.
From the early 1980’s Neil also rescued The Lindley band from almost certain collapse by taking the baton which he continued to do for the next 30 years.
He was a friend to many and will be sadly missed.
