Whit Friday 2026 – Champions Once Again!
A week on from an unforgettable Whit Friday, we are still reflecting on what was a truly special evening for everyone involved with Brighouse and Rastrick Band.
We are incredibly proud to have been crowned Saddleworth Whit Friday Champions 2026, securing an unprecedented fourth consecutive overall title. To achieve this at one of the most prestigious and fiercely contested events in the brass band calendar is a remarkable accomplishment and one that means a great deal to the entire organisation.
Whit Friday remains a unique celebration of brass banding, bringing together communities, musicians and supporters in a way that few other events can. Throughout the evening, our players performed with commitment, passion and musical excellence across the Saddleworth villages, and we are delighted that those efforts were recognised with the overall championship title.
A week later, the sense of pride and gratitude remains as strong as ever. This success is the result of countless hours of preparation and dedication from every member of the band, both on and off the contest stage.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our Musical Director, Garry Cutt, whose leadership and expertise continue to inspire the band. We are also immensely grateful to our loyal supporters who followed us throughout the night, creating an atmosphere that helped make the occasion so memorable.
Our thanks also go to the contest organisers, volunteers and adjudicators whose hard work ensures that Whit Friday continues to thrive, as well as to all the competing bands who once again contributed to a spectacular evening of music-making.
Congratulations to everyone who took part. We are honoured to add another chapter to the band’s proud Whit Friday history and look forward to returning in 2027.
For now, we will continue to savour a wonderful achievement and celebrate what was a truly memorable Whit Friday.
