Return of the King
On Tuesday night, the band began their preparation for the 2023 contest season with their professional conductor, David King.
David has just joined us from Bergen, where he has been working for two weeks.
It was straight in at full speed for our preparation on Wilby’s ‘Red Priest’. The purple team couldn’t be more focussed on returning to the National Finals after missing out last year.
The band had previously had a run of 10 years of playing at the finals under David and we will be doing all we can to ensure we are part of this year’s day of music making at the Royal Albert Hall.
David reflected in the rehearsal on questions he had whilst working for the last two weeks. He is again working on Gregson’s ‘World Rejoicing‘ and the players were keen to know how he got B&R to play and sound as they did. David answered, “Well, it started in 2010!”
