Bass Trombone – Steve Lomas
Steve started playing the tuba aged 8, until moving to bass trombone at 13 due to being the only one who could read bass clef. He gained a degree in Computer Science from Loughborough and works at Rolls-Royce developing civil jet engine control systems, having previously worked on EuroFighter, Highways Agency, London Underground and Spanish Railways.
He has previously played with Clipstone Colliery, Burbage (Buxton), Darley Dale, Newstead, BTM, Desford & Leyland.
He is a keen supporter of local solo contests, joining the party late at the tender age of 28. Notably becoming New Zealand Bass Trombone Champion in 2007 and 2008 and Best Trombone at British Open Solos in 2009 and 2010.
